Agenda Items
  1. Membership Report. [Bob Renn - KF7JPJ]

    Family 2
    Individual 12
    Total 16

CIARC welcomes new members: Anna Crogh (KG7GKL), Julie Good (KG7GKM), Jeff Kirby (KG7GKP) and Larry Mangum (KG7GKQ)

  2. Treasurer's Report. [Bob Renn - KF7JPJ]

    Balance 1764.16
    Outstanding Debits 0.0
    Outstanding Deposits 55.0

A motion was made and approved unanimously to approve the Treasurer's report.

  3. Repeater Report. [Ray Montagne - W7CIA]

The 2-meter repeater was observed to be off-line. Neither the 2-meter repeater or the 33cm link backbone is operating. Attempts at invoking DTMF control were not successful. A determination of the cause of failure and the requirements for repair will not be made until access to the communications site at No Business Mountain becomes available in spring. All members should use the 70cm repeater while the 2-meter repeater is off-line.

  4. Amateur Radio Operating Class for New Licensees. [Ray Montagne - W7CIA]

Richard Wagner (KG7GKS) and Ray Montagne (W7CIA) met to discuss the requirements and agenda for the class session. A 22-page outline was produced as a result of this meeting. The material includes sections on communications protocols, simplex and repeater operation, setting up a station, staying legal, EMCOMM, and an introduction to many other facets of Amateur Radio that may interest the new or prospective Amateur Radio operator.

An email survey was sent out twice to newly licensed members to ascertain the best day to hold the class session. Not all Amateur Radio licensees responded to the survey. The results tend toward a Saturday session. Further, the amount of material would make for very late sessions and would prove to be physically difficult for the instructor. As such, these classes will be scheduled for Saturday sessions.

These classes are intended for the newly licensed Amateur Radio operator, the inexperienced Amateur Radio operator and for the Amateur Radio operator that wishes to be informed of facets of Amateur Radio that are unfamiliar to them.

A schedule will be announced soon, both via email and on the NEWS portion of the web-site.

  5. Wednesday NET. [Larry Stokes - N7IBC]

Attendance on the NET has been very low. With the 2-meter repeater being off-line, combined with the very low attendance, let it be proposed that the NET cease operation for the foreseeable future.

The membership expressed a preference to continue with the Wednesday night NET. These will be held on the 70cm repeater while the 2m repeater is down.

  6. Safety Vests. [Bob Renn - KF7JPJ]

Bob Renn displayed an inexpensive Safety Vest, in florescent green, that are available in the $10 to $12 price range. A show of hands indicated an interest in the club having vests for Public Service events, such as the McCall Winter Carnival. Philip Good (KB7BVS) moved that the club purchase a small quantity of these vests and the membership unanimously approved this motion. Ten vests, including 8 XL and 2 L size, will be ordered by Bob.

  7. Silk Screened Shirts [Philip Good - KB7BVS]

Philip Good (KB7BVS) displayed a very nice silk screened T-shirt and baseball cap with the CIARC logo. The shirts are available for $15 while the baseball caps are available for $10. Please contact Philip if you are interested in purchasing a T-shirt or Baseball Cap.

  8. Class For Newly Licensed & Inexperienced HAMS [Ray Montagne - W7CIA]

The first class in a series has been scheduled for Saturday, March 1st, at 9:00 AM. The class will be held at Pilgrim Cove Camp & Conference Center, located at 1075 Plymouth Rd in McCall. Directions are available by clicking here.

Please contact Ray Montagne (W7CIA) with any questions.
