Bob reported that he still has 1 large and 6 extra-large vests in stock. These can be purchased by club members for $10.

Lenard Crogh (W7HXU) reported that if a quantity of 10 orders for shirts, hats or silk screening of member held vests is received, the cost would be $12.38 per unit.

  4. Highway Cleanup. [Lenard Crogh - W7HXU]

Philip Good (KB7BVS) has been appointed as the alternate contact for the state roads department to contact CIARC. Lenard Crogh (W7HXU) is the primary contact. Lenard reported that the sign can accomodate 2-lines of 12-characters each. Unanimous approval was expressed for the following text on line 1 and line 2:

    • 147.02 442.5

    • ciarc.org

Available mileage sections, expressed with the most desirable at the top, are:

    • 161-163

    • 163-164

Maintaining the sign posting requires a minimum of two clean-up sessions per year. Lenard indicated that copies of the paperwork that is submitted to the road department will be kept in case the paperwork is lost.

  5. Public Service Calendar. [Ray Montagne - W7CIA]

    Upcoming Public Service events.

    • Field Day: June 28-29

This would be a good opportunity to expose new Amateur Radio operators to HF operations, basic traffic handling skills, station construction, etc.

    • McCall Trail Running Classic: July 12

This event requires communications stations be established at five locations. Staffing requirements are for a minimum of one operator per aid station, and two operators at the start / finish line.

Staffing hours vary with the station location. For each location, radio staff needs to be in place prior to the first runner arriving, and staffing requirements are needed to continue until after the last runner has left the location.

    • IMTUF 100: September 20-21

This event is usually handled by another Amateur Radio club, that has more operators that CIARC can support, but uses the CIARC repeater network to support communications. CIARC members are encouraged to help provide communications for this event.

  6. Technician class license class & test session. [Ray Montagne - W7CIA]

Allan Perrins (WB6PHE) and Dee Perrins (N6HWI) will be returning to act as the Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) for a test session that will be held at the McCall Fire Department on May 17th.

This test session is to be completely run by the W5YI-VEs that are included in the original application to the W5YI-VE to certify a test team here in Valley County. Allan and Dee are supporting our efforts by helping our team to gain the experience requirements that the W5YI-VE has requested. We will need to have a firm commitment by the VE team to support this session. The prospective VE team consists of:

First Last Call Sign VE Number Signed Up
    Ray Montagne W7CIA 23555
    Lenard Crogh W7HXU 32970G
    Tim Bailey AD7IW 32973
    Larry Stokes N7IBC 39971G
    David McQuade W7LCC 32972G

Bob Renn has already agreed to support fee collection in the morning, prior to the class session, and again, in the afternoon, just prior to the test session for those wishing to take the test but not attend the class session.

Fees collected for the test session are split between the W5YI-VE and the VE team, and are intended to cover the cost supporting the testing. These funds need to be managed separately from the general fund, and need to be free to be drawn against to cover the cost of printing test materials, etc.

If there is an insufficient number of volunteers to conduct this session, the session will be cancelled. A firm commitment is needed as it would not be appropriate to accumulate class registrations and then have to cancel the session due to insufficient staffing.

Please indicate your willingness to commit to assisting with this session by contacting Ray Montagne by EMAIL at your earliest convenience.

  7. New Ham Class. [Ray Montagne - W7CIA]

Following the Technician class license session, a class for New Hams will also be scheduled. Details and venue will be disclosed at a later date.

  8. WEB Site. [Ray Montagne - W7CIA]

The CIARC web site is not available while the site is being migrated from AVAHost to HostGator. If the page is accessed at the old host (i.e. AVAHost), no content is available, other than text that discloses the migration. Once banners and content appear, the migration will be completed. Migration should be completed by April 10, 2014.
